Just like any other thing, there are many advantages and disadvantages with LCD TV. You will also have come across many myths concerning this type of TV. Don't be surprised to hear different things from different people as each person has their own views about what the LCD TV is about.

Don't be surprised with the first myth I'm about to share. Some people actually think that the LCD is a liquid. No, the LCD is not a liquid. The term liquid in LCD refers to the quality of the crystal and has nothing to do with its state. It is helpful to know that this crystal has a predictable way of reacting to electric currents and it is because of this characteristic that they are used to form the pictures on the TV screen.

Secondly, you will find that many people will purchase these with the thought that the LCD will last forever. You will want to consider that this is truly a myth, because you have to consider that nothing lasts forever. You will want to think about the average display hours and it can last somewhere between 60,000 to 80,000 hours. Basically, you will find that they will last at least seven years if you play it constantly all day long. However, if you only view the TV up to eight hours a day, it could last as long as twenty years or more.

Another one of the LCD TV myths is that the TV screen can suffer a burn-in. This is totally untrue. LCD screens work on a blocking light basis, and it is basically impossible to burn the screen with to much usage. You need not have to worry about this problem at all. You should be able to have the external display screen in the same way when you first purchased it for a very long period of time without the need to worry about having a burn-in screen.

One of another common LCD TV myths is that you will not be able to view the image if you are watching the TV from the sides. You need to be directly in front of it to get a good view. This may be a problem in the past when the technology is not so advanced. Today, you are able to find LCD TVs that can give you a view angle that is as wide as 160 degrees. Of course, the lower quality TVs may still give you this problem. But if you buy a better quality LCD TV, you should be able to get quite a good view even from the sides.

You will want to consider the fact that the LCD is a TV set. You have to take in consideration that it's not going to last forever and it's not something that you will want to take lightly. You will want to make sure that you think about the pros and cons of an LCD TV just as you would anything else that you buy.
