Complete Kitchen Remodeling Packages
When you are trying to remodel kitchen counter tops then it can be very difficult and stressful. Removing the surfaces can seem like an easy task, however the most difficult part is knowing what you are going to replace them with. Even removing the existing work surfaces can actually be more difficult than you might first imagine. Many laminated countertops are glued directly to the wood which needs some form of solvent to remove it.
The most simple way to remodel the kitchen work surfaces is to replace the whole thing. If you take the whole countertop off by unscrewing it you should be able to lift it off. You should then clean and level off the actual cabinets so that you can fit a new countertop.
There are a number of different materials which can be used for counter tops, and so you should carefully consider which one to use. This will of course depend mainly on your budget and your personal preferences. You could replace them with pre-made counter tops which can be ordered from most good home hardware stores. These allow you to simply bring it home and fit it straight onto your existing
kitchen cabinets. This is the quickest method for remodeling your kitchen counter tops. However there is an easier way, and that is to get someone else to do it for you.
Stone, Marble or Granite, which is best?
You might consider replacing your old counter tops with stone, marble or granite work surfaces. These are much more expensive however they will last much longer. As well as this they also add much more beauty to your kitchen. As already mentioned they are more durable, but they are more difficult to fit. These are difficult to cut, and so you should order pre-cut work tops where possible.
Remember that you will have to have a hole cut into the stone or granite for your sink and faucets. You will also have to make sure the splash back is sealed properly to the counter tops. Failure to seal this can result in water being able to get behind the back of the cabinets which can cause a lot of damage. It's best to get a professional in to install stone or granite work tops because making any mistakes can be very costly.
You should avoid using vinyl or plastic counter tops unless that's all your budget will allow because they are not very long lasting. It is very easy to accidentally scratch these with normal kitchen utensils, especially if you carve a lot of meat. You should also choose a countertop that matches the color scheme of your kitchen, this is easiest to do with laminated wood work tops.
