ADT is like Brinks in that it is an old, respectable company that's been around for over a hundred years. They are perhaps the second-most renowned American company in the home security business.

Also like Brinks, the reviews range from extremely happy with the service to angry over lack of service. One customer calls the service people "idiots," but applauds the people in the monitoring center.

A lot of the negative reviews are caused by the poor installation done by third parties. One customer suggests that people study their contracts, thoroughly test the system every month, and buy straight from ADT (not a third party). You'll have a better experience if you follow these steps.

You likely won't have much like finding a home security company that's consistent across the board with customer service or reliability. It's very important to do your homework and compare home security companies, read up on your contract, and look out for yourself. Don't depend on the company to do everything for you.
